Film is Preferred

Not only is customer-provided film more economical for the customer, but it also provides the customer an opportunity to view and proof the final output. Sending film eliminates the possibility that we will encounter prepress problems (as with disks) which result in additional art charges, thus speeding up the production process. Jobs that receive on film are scheduled for the press and printed as soon as they are received.

Following are specifications for customers submitting art on film:

	Emulsion down, right reading
	133 line screen on spot colors
	120 line screen on process
	Include a color laser, and when applicable, color separated lasers.

Negatives will be produced from disks and an additional charge will be added.

4-Color Process Art

4-color process jobs are much more complex and time-consuming than 1-color jobs due to registration and color matching issues. therefore, we charge a setup fee on process jobs. This setup fee includes:

	Color Key Proof
	Plate matching and make-ready
	Press registration
	Washup of 4 inking units

Traditional Artwork

For quality reproduction, please provide original or clean black and white copy. Laser copies usually reproduce well. Art received via fax will not print well and may require additional production charges.

Art created in crayon, pencil or pastels are acceptable when a job is intended to be printed in one color. When artwork is intended to be printed in full color, scanning will be necessary and will require, in most cases, additional production charges.

Photographs

Black and white photos are preferred. A photo with strong contrasts between light and dark will reproduce better. Color photos or photos that have been previously printed do not reproduce well and will require scanning.

Book Cover Measurements

Standard size book covers measure 14"x22". The printable area is 11"x19".

Extra large covers are 16"x26" with a printable area of 13"x23".

Proofreading

All jobs are carefully proofread before they go to press; however, please check your work carefully before you send it to us. Fax proofs will be sent to all customers for approval prior to printing. Your immediate attention to these proofs is appreciated. We adhere to very tight press scheduling and production planning.

Prepress Services

30 minutes of prepress preparation is included in the product price. For jobs that exceed 30 minutes, production rates are based on $60 per hour and are estimated on the complexity of the job.

Return of Artwork

If you would like to have your original art returned, please provide us with a self-addressed, stamped envelope large enough to accommodate it. Your artwork will be returned once the job is approved and printed.
